Join the French American Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, November 15 for a fun evening to welcome the 2007 Beaujolais Nouveau wine harvest at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C.  

Tasting the initial bottles of this special wine has become a worldwide phenomenon, and November 15 is the first day that Beaujolais Nouveau can be officially served.  The French-American Chamber of Commerce’s annual event is the Washington, D.C. area’s “official” Beaujolais Nouveau gathering – featuring a true French flair at the Embassy’s own Maison Française.

For 2007, we will be offering seven different Beaujolais Nouveau wines, which are known this year for their floral, fruity aromas: Domaine Manoir de Carra, Domaine Descroix, Domaine Anne-Marie de Perret, George Duboeuf Nouveau, Joseph Drouhin, Bouchard Aine, and Mommessin (a new choice for 2007!)

We also will have an elaborate selection of French and international dishes created by seven highly-rated chefs in the D.C. area:

Executive Chef Peter Smith – PS7’s

  • Black Trumpet Cappuccino with Lemon Scented Foam; and Trumpet Royale Mushroom Carpaccio with Shallot Confiture, Frisee and Tasmanian Pepper Emulsion

Executive Chef Laurent Chosset – Pinzimini, The Westin Arlington Gateway Hotel

  • Sautéed Wild Mushrooms over Garlic Crostini and Shaved Parmiagiano Reggiano; and Porcini Bisque with a Dollop of Crème Fraiche

Executive Chef Wil Going and Pastry Chef Donna Yun – Lia’s Restaurant

  • Porcini Consommé with Wild Mushroom Spaetzle; Oyster Mushroom Gnocchi with Fontina and Cognac Cream; and Tangerine Sorbet with Citrus Tuile

Executive Chef Brian Boots – Elegance A La Carte

  • Pumpkin Turnip Soup; and Chicken in Hard Cider Sauce

Executive Chef Frank Claros – Extra Virgin

  • Ravioli Stuffed with Porcini and Wild Mushrooms in a Butter Sage Sauce; and Kahlua Chocolate Mousse

Executive Chef Kevin Reading and Chef du Cuisine Roman Cristali – Nage, An East Coast Eatery

  • Sauteed Hedgehog Mushrooms with Rosemary on Polenta Chips; and Lobster Corn Dogs 

Adding to the evening's culinary experience will be:

  • Gourmet pâté from Fabrique Delices
  • Bread selection from Bonaparte Breads
  • Mediterranean spreads from Baguette Republic
  • French and international cheeses
